New Delhi sources have stated that Tourism minister Kapil Mishra on Monday has shot off a letter to Union culture minister Mahesh Sharma over his controversial statement and Sharma had on Sunday has remarked in Agra that foreign tourists should avoid wearing skirts, shouldn't go out alone at night or stay alone for their own safety.

He had also announced that the government would come out with a pamphlet on that as "Indian culture is different from western" and has written that he has humbly and earnestly requested him to understand that such an advisory will only bring embarrassment and shame to India on the global stage.


Mishra has also written that such an advisory not only tarnishes the image of India, but also has a negative and deleterious impact on the tourism sector and this might be the first of its kind instance in the world when the central government is issuing an advisory which will only have a negative effect.


Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has rubbed it in on Twitter and has added that women had greater freedom to wear clothes of their choice in Vedic times than they have in Modi times.
