Sources from New Delhi have stated that the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University who were found guilty of violating the university rules in connection with the controversial February 9th, 2016 incident will not be able to cast their vote in the upcoming students' union polls as their names were struck off the voters list due to the pending fine.

It is stated that the voters' list was issued on Tuesday and the names of the 17 JNU students of the 21 names who have been imposed varied penalty for their alleged role in the sedition row, have been dropped from the list.


Meanwhile Rama Naga, general secretary, JNUSU has stated that a s per the standard provision, thy has moved to the admin officer to get their names included in the list but were told that they have been struck off because of fines pending against us for the February 9th incident.


Sources have added that the schedule for the JNUSU elections was declared on Monday and the last date to file nominations is Wednesday and the polls will be conducted on September 9th, 2016.
