Speculation is increasing on whether Power Star Pawan Kalyan, chief of Jana Sena will pocket the credit if PM Modi led Union Government announce either special status or special package to Andhra Pradesh. It is known that special status demand for AP is increasing passions among the people of the state and BJP can ill afford to lose the support as it plans to increase or reduce the damage in the 2019 general elections.
Till now BJP has been delaying special status demand despite demands from AP CM Chandra Babu Naidu and his ministers. Some ministers even went on to argue that AP do not require special status. Modi government which sent mixed signals on special status despite Jagan's YSRCP protests in AP and Delhi, Rahul Gandhi's padayatara in AP and didnot respond to TDP leaders attack on them ,now suddenly started holding consultations.
Inside talk is Government is devising a special package which will be more attractive than special status. Plans are on to do away with special status to ensure that other states donot demand special status for them too in future. Group of ministers are holding discussions and Government many announce special package to AP after having final discussions with CM Chandra Babu.
Many say BJP moving so fast on special package or status to AP is due to Pawan Kalyan's announcement at Tirupati that he will launch fight for special status in a three phase manner with a huge public meeting on Sep 9th in Kakinada, AP. BJP National President Amit Shah right after Pawan's announcement met the party ministers from AP and asked about the special status issue turning a sentiment.
Even Arun Jaitley too responded positively saying except statements from Government, AP didnot get any financial assistance. Amit Shah invited TDP Minister Sujana Chowdhary for BJP internal meet and right after this meeting, PM Modi himself held another consultations with all of them.
PM Modi then directed his minister to prepare a report that AP get a package which will be the best among all other states as special status accordance to AP will face opposition from Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Tamil Nadu. Modi government is of opinion that if Pawan kalyan launch his fight for special status, similar movements may start in other states like Tamil Nadu and karnataka and this may act against them in future. Analysts are of the opinion that the credt for any announcement for AP from Union Government led by PM Modi will go to Power Star Pawan Kalyan.
