Special Status may be just another trivial issue for anyone but for people of Andhra Pradesh it is their birth right and close to their heart after the insensitive bifurcation of the state by the political parties to come to power at any cost.

TDP-BJP parties led by CM Chandra Babu and PM Modi after promising heaven in the last elections didnot act to fulfill their desires and aspirations. Now special status fight is intensifying while Union Government is planning to silence other states by scraping special status completely and instead give huge special package to AP.

Discussions are underway at high level and announcement may come soon even as Power Star Pawan kalyan Jana Sena chief is planning to start his fight for special status on Sep 9th with a huge rally in Kakinada.

It is comingout that while TDP and BJP are planning to support special package, opposition parties like Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSRCP and Congress party are planning to oppose it tooth and nail. TDP and BJP are making plans to counter the opposition parties by highlighting expected developments like railway zone and financial package. Already the Left parties and the Congress will be participating in protests in front of central government offices across the state on September 8.

Special package or special status, parties in Andhra Pradesh are split on the issue and have taken different positions. It is coming out that parties like the YSRC, the Congress and two Left parties —  the CPI and the CPM — would oppose the Centre’s outcome.

All parties made clear that special category status is acceptable to them only if it included tax incentives, says AP Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi president Chalasani Srinivas. It is coming out that opposition parties will reject it even if the special status is given for the state by  highlighting Budhelkhand package developments. CPI state secretary K. Ramakrishna  said that even if the SCS is given for the state, Budhelkhand package should be given for backward districts, as it is also mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act.
