Sources have stated that the once glorious Bagh-E- Aam has been in a state of shambles owing to years of neglect. With a budget of Rs 2 crores being sanctioned by the government, the authorities are all set to restore the historic park to its former glory and the biggest challenge for the authorities is to refill the pond which dried up 3-4 years ago.

Meanwhile Dr B Vijayaprasad, Deputy Director of the Public Gardens has stated that the lake used to receive inflows from Tank Bund through pipes but due to a blockage, the water flow into the pond has been obstructed and so they are going to set in place a rain water harvesting model that will keep the pond full throughout the year and are going to cover the bottom of the pond with a plastic sheet to prevent seepage.

Suresh Kumar, a resident of Malakpet has told that the once esteemed Bagh-e-Aam has now been reduced to a convenient spot for joggers in the morning and evening while vagabonds laze around in the shade of the trees throughout the day and it is a far cry from the pomp and grandeur it enjoyed during the Nizams' time.

Anuradha Reddy, convener of INTACH Hyderabad has added that people would throng the Gardens in large numbers and if there is a security threat to the assembly, the security personnel should be doubled and the shabby neglect of the Gardens is not the right approach to keeping politicians safe.
