Chennai sources have stated that Chennai Police Commissioner T.K. Rajendran was on Wednesday transferred and he was posted as the Director General of Police (Intelligence) and given full additional charge as DGP (Law and Order), Tamil Nadu, and head of the police force.



 It is stated that he has replaced Ashok Kumar who has “opted” for voluntary retirement on Tuesday and was relieved the same evening, with full respect and honor.

Meanwhile another DGP rank officer, S. George, who was the Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, was posted as the Commissioner of Police, Chennai. Mr. Rajendran, a 1984-batch IPS officer, was posted as Chennai Commissioner in October 2015 and six months later, the Election Commission has shifted him out to the Prison Department.



However, presently after the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has won the election and has again retained power, Mr. Rajendran been posted back as the Chennai Police Commissioner. He is expected to maintain law and order in the state.
