Successive governments in various states across the country have been trying to implement mulsim quota bill providing reservations to muslims and thus win their support in various elections. However Supreme Court many times quashed the attempts much to the shock of the parties.

However parties in power didnot stop their attempts. TRS government headed by CM KCR promised 12% reservation to Muslims but now this hit roadblock once again. Earlier YS.Rajasekhar Reddy as CM tried to pass the bill but it was struck down by courts.

Commissions of Inquiry submitted their report on 12 August recommending quotas to Muslims and scheduled tribes, chances of KCR government passing special law in the lines of Tamil Nadu looks remote.

This because Talangana does not have a BC Commission to approve 12 per cent quota for Muslims under the BC-E quota as it is yet to be constituted. Commission of inquiry on STs in its report recommended on 9% stating that reservations can't exceed their ratio of population, which is nine per cent as per the Census 2011.

BC Welfare minister Jogu Ramanna said only BC commission can increase or decrease quotas and added it will be constituted soon. He however refused to put any time frame.

Analysts feel TRS government is clueless at present on getting the quota bill passed in the assembly.
