Guntur sources have stated that a senior doctor was suspended on Wednesday, a day after the fiasco in the Government General Hospital (GGH) here where a just-born baby boy was declared dead by duty doctors though he was very much alive. Ironically, the infant, who was admitted to NICU after parents have created a ruckus, has died in the early hours of Wednesday.



A senior GGH official has told that an assistant professor has been placed under suspension and three supporting staff members have been asked to give explanation on the circumstances that led to the infant has declared dead initially.

The health minister Kamineni Srinivas has ordered the GGH officials to take necessary action on the doctor who has attended the case and other staff who has claimed that the boy was stillborn.



Meanwhile thes uperintendent, GGH, K Raju Naidu has added that the baby was born with several complications and he could not take breath normally since his nose was partially opened and also, the mother was brought to the hospital at around 7 am on Tuesday in a critical state and also told that if a baby was born with less than 1.8 kilogram weight, chances of his/her survival will be less.
