Many often wonder whether national media is not in sync with regional channels and happenings in the south. Many time one witness a small incident in Delhi or in UP,Gujarat,Bihar,Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh finds time for discussion in prime time in national media but this is not the case even in case of violent protests be it in Andhra Pradesh,Tamil Nadu,Telangana,Karnataka or Kerala and for that matter north east states like Assam,Mizoram,Nagaland, Manipur etc.

Few days back  CNN News 18 first broadcast its interview with the prime minister, IBN-7 telecast it once again on Sunday. CNN telecast the interview repeatedly and then claimed that it became no 1 defeating Times Now. Hindi and regional channels covered the Patidar protests in Surat last week disrupt an Amit Shah event (ETV Gujarat), the BJP president deliver his “Dilli-ke-damaad” speech targeting former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Robert Vadra at a rally on Sunday (OK India TV) and listened to BSP chief Mayawati’s campaign speech in Saharanpur the same day (APN) — followed immediately by a thoughtful analysis (Prime News).

All these channels are covering analysis on the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat later in 2017. So called national channels and media ignore south and entire north east only till a national disaster occurs. They gave important to cots stolen at Rahul Gandhi's rally. Then they covered cauvery water war between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and Chikungunya battle in Delhi.

As national media is often after sensationalisation and only interested in TRPs, Information and Broadcasting Minister, Venkaiah Naidu called for media restraint in the coverage of the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu conflict following the viral-spiral of a video that allegedly showed a Tamil youth being thrashed in Karnataka. His ministry issued an advisory — especially for TV news — to avoid coverage of the violence.

But then again there was no such advisory while covering J and K protests. National media showed immense interest in Kapil Sharma's bribe tweet but it failed to cover important happenings in Andhra Pradesh,Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala.

This many feel showed the bias in National media and discrimination against south. Wonder what explanation national media got on this discrimination.
