Heavy rains lashed Hyderabad and it witnessed 16.7cm rain on Tuesday which broke 16 year old record. From 10 pm to midnight, the GHMC limits received the highest rainfall ever recorded, leading to the breaching of lakes, flooding at Quthbullapur and surrounding areas.
Even meteorological department let down the citizens when it predicted few spells and thunder showers, but heavy rains lashed the city. Rains inundated entire city and this resulted in huge traffic jam bringing the city to standstill.
Telangana CM KCR held review meeting and directed officials to take all precautions as heavy rains are predicted for the next two days. He directed to request for Army if things worsen in case of emergency. In the meantime people of Hyderabad are furious with the administration failure.
Natizens waged twitter war against GHMC and officials for failing them miserably. A twitter user posted “If your houses are built on our lakes then lakes (referring to water) will come into your houses (sic),”
Mr Prakash Arcot on his facebook posted “It is the collective failure of civic administration and the minister,” Mr.Savanth SK held contractors responsible for the bad roads. Mr Vamshi Muthyapu turned angry posting “Why are you people living on tax payer’s money can’t do anything for them.”
Mr Kalyan. J from Hyderabad Intellectuals Forum said, “People should revolt and refuse to pay taxes until we get basic amenities”
