North Carolina sources have stated that police have resisted pressure to publicly release the video, instead showing it to the family of Keith Scott , where the 43 year old was killed on Tuesday as part of a police search for another suspect in Charlotte, North Carolina.

His death has prompted violence on the streets, leading to dozens of arrests and injuries and a third night of protests on Thursday was largely peaceful after a midnight curfew was enforced. North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory has declared a state of emergency in the midst of Wednesday night's rioting.

Meanwhile Mr. Scott's wife and other family members have now viewed the police body camera video of the fatal shooting and it shows a black police officer shooting Mr. Scott dead in an apartment complex car park.

Justin Bamberg, lawyer for the family, has said police did give him several commands, he did not aggressively approach them or raise his hands at members of law enforcement at any time and it is impossible to discern from the videos what, if anything, Mr. Scott is holding in his hands.
