Chennai sources have stated that a third judge was nominated by the Madras High Court to decide on the composition of the autopsy panel of Swathi murder suspect Ramkumar, has directed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, to depute a forensic expert, to join the team and complete the post-mortem examination before September 27th.

Justice N. Kirubakaran has said the order has been passed only to clear the cloud (over Ramkumar’s death) and in an endeavor to do complete justice, without discrediting or casting aspersion on the State government doctors.

The Judge has said this court agrees with the view taken by Justice S. Vaidyanathan that the presence of an independent expert would lead to creation of doubt in the public about the nature of the investigation made by the State machinery and this court includes one doctor from the AIIMS, along with the four government doctors, to conduct the post-mortem examination.

The court has also directed the State Government to conduct the autopsy preferably within two days, or in any event, on or before September 27th and to hand over the body to Ramkumar’s father R. Paramasivan after the examination.
