Hyderabad sources have stated that as bulldozers brought down houses and commercial buildings across the city, hordes of angry residents protested against the GHMC on Wednesday and the demolition squads have faced the wrath of people in Kapra, Mallapur and Nacharam areas.
The officials from GHMC and the irrigation department went with bulldozers to raze 70 odd houses at Kapra and Nacharam circle; their attempts were thwarted by residents who resorted to a sit-in demanding that their houses be spared.
S. Laxmi, a resident of Chakripuram has said the government has said it would demolish encroachments, but here their homes are located far away from nalas and there is no hindrance to the flow of water in these nalas, where it (GHMC) can't demolish their homes.
At Banjara Hills road No1, GHMC officials, who have arrived to demolish a structure that was being constructed on a nala, has allegedly stepped back after they have learnt that it was being built by a business magnate.
