We often listen to the comments like that of the 'Gut Felling.' But, we do take it lightly, believing sincerely, that the guts could not harbour any feelings and it is the central nervous system or the brain that is the seat of all our emotions and thoughts. But, the latest research provides validity to the phrase i.e. the Gut feeling. Yes guts do have feelings and they do influence our actions. The parasitic creatures infecting our stomachs could influence our nervous systems and thus could be the cause of some of our actions and thoughts. The recent study proves that the feelings of stress and anxiety in some of us could be the result of the microbial infecting our stomachs.  A single celled parasite named, ‘Toxoplasma gondii,’ which when it colonises the guts of the mice, could make them get attracted to the cats and be the cause for the fatal end of the host (Mice here.)Thus this parasite uses up the host i.e. mice to help it in the process of reaching out to the next stage in its life cycle i.e. within the cats. Thus many parasites that make the guts of the host as their abode make the host go awry.  So, it is time to think of the psychological issues, in terms of the’ Gut Feelings’ too. Some of our moods, anxieties and stressful moments might in fact not be the makings of our central nervous system, but of our stomachs. This is the reason researchers are seriously contemplating as to the role of the probiotics, in healing some of the problems that afflict our ‘psyche!’ So let us not take  the feelers that our gut is providing us with, so lightly...
