No matter how genuine the problem is, official cuts to the tune of 12 hours in villages, 8 hours in mandals is definitely breaking the back of farmers, small scale industries, students and other employment generating business in the rural regions. Though opposition parties are sounding a war cry over this issue, there is no end in sight as the central government is unable to allot AP any additional gas.
It has to be remembered that exactly a decade back it was the adamant attitude of Chandrababu Naidu in forcing the farmers to pay dues owed to discoms that led to the downfall and eventual ouster of TDP from power. No matter how confident Congress appears to be in its political calculus for 2014 elections, the current power shortage is expected to script the ouster of Congress party too in 2014 elections in AP.
