Nirbhaya… Though it is a pseudo name of an innocent girl with lots of hopes on future but turned out to be victim in Delhi gang rape incident… this name created ripples in entire Indian political system and made youth across length & breadth of country go against the government at-a-point. Mrs. Obama along with John Kerry [Secretary of State – USA] will honor 10 most courageous women in the world for year – 2013. India’s Nirbhaya was chosen by United States of America for this prestigious award. Michelle Obama will present the award on Friday 8-March-13. On Monday, USA department of state released press statement noting : “Nirbhaya bravely recorded two police statements while in the hospital, repeatedly called for justice against the six attackers, and stated her will to survive to see justice done.” ”Like many Indians inspired by her struggle, she was born into a working class family that invested their hopes and life savings into her dream to pursue medicine. She had just graduated from a Physiotherapy program when her life was cut short” With this honor Nirbhaya joins with Samira Ibrahim [Egypt struggle coordinator] and 8 other most courageous women in the world. While these honors can’t bring Nirbhaya back from the death, they can inspire women across India & World by spreading awareness of exemplary experiences. While we, Team @ APHerald.com can’t say Rest In Peace to Nirbhaya for the kind of struggle she had gone through and died for no fault of her… would like to request all our fellow Indians to respect women, at least let them live their own life, if not treat them as your mother or god!
