As if the existing controversies are not enough, the decisions by Kiran government to hand over more than 5000 hectares of mines in Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar districts of AP to Vizag steel plant has created a fresh controversy in terms of the regional divide between Andhra and Telangana. Though as per the agreement, VSP is supposed to establish a plant in Khammam to purify the iron ore and later transport it to Vizag, Telangana TDP forum and TRS are up and against this move saying a new plant has to be sanctioned in the region so that all the jobs can be given to locals. On the other hand, CM Kiran is at pains to explain that VSP is not owned by Andhra people and is only a central government PSU which is abiding by its plans and hence for the first time in years mining rights are being given to a government entity and Kiran also added that TDP and TRS are trying to create unnecessary controversy in the name of politics.
