The Congress party is on cloud nine with latest results suggesting that the party is all set to get a comfortable lead in the state. It was interesting to see how leaders from AP who had hit the campaign trail in Karnataka beaming on News shows right from morning as to how Congress will be on an upward swing from now and even in 2014.

Vijayawada MP Lagadapati was heard saying that the people of India were looking towards congress. It is plain common sense that Karnataka Assembly elections were fought only at the state level where infighting, corruption and anti-incumbency is leading to the rout of BJP, but the win cannot be taken as an endorsement of Central (read
UPA) policies.

Congress leaders can feel confident of gaining a key state but they should understand that the mandate given by people is restricted only to that state and they cannot compare Congress in that state with the Congress in AP. At the best they can compare sinking Congress in AP with that of BJP in Karnataka.
