Former minister and Gadwal strongman D K Samarasimha Reddy is all set to join the TDP. Samarasimha, the brother-in-law of information minister D K Aruna reportedly met TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and expressed his desire to join the party while a formal announcement is expected soon.
Samarasimha Reddy is an influential Congress leader in the state politics and served as a Cabinet minister in Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy government. Known to be a staunch critic of YSR, he left the Congress party due to rivalry with him and also due to the growing influence of D K Aruna in the district politics of Mahabubnagar, he went into political oblivion.
He was also stopped from joining Congress by brother and sister-in-law after YSR’s death. This will definitely be a boost for TDP in its once stronghold of Mahabubnagar.
