There was a time when Telugu Desam Party had one of the most active and dynamic women leaders like Renuka Choudhary, Roja, Shobha Nagi Reddy among others. In a way TDP attributes it success right from the beginning to a large number of women voters who constituted an important voter base for the party.
But off late most of the important women leaders have left TDP and looks like the women power is in play for parties like TRS and YSRCP than TDP. Even Congress may steal the limelight with the reported entry of yesteryear actress Jayaprada.
Though there are still leaders like Shobha Hymavathi and Nannapaneni Rajakumari, critics say that there is a severe shortage of high voltage women leaders in Telugu Desam Party who are needed to boost energy for the party. Some are also suggesting actress Kavitha should take more initiative in this matter and push the party.
