Indian judiciary has set a good precedent yesterday with ' public interest ' litigation's as felt in the recent dismissal of a PIL against PCC chief and state transport minister Botsa Satyanarayana's daughters recent lavish wedding by the AP high court .
There were nearly 210 PILs pending in AP high court since 2010 seeking information from Government on various issues still at admission stage as there is no response from authorities.
A division bench of the AP high court Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice N V Ramana on Thursday dismissed an appeal seeking information regarding the expenditure incurred by the state government for providing transport, security and accommodation to the guests of PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana on the occasion of his daughter's wedding in November last year.
The petition by Congress Secular Hindu Forum was questioned by the court to clarify whether the organization was a registered society or not and to produce a certificate or evidence in this regard. When they failed the court dismissed it .
We have seen how Court operations were derailed with numerous litigation 43 lakh cases in all high courts .AP high stands 3.2 lakh cases besides another 12 lakh cases in all district courts .Indian judiciary would take 320 years to clear the backlog of 31.28 million cases pending in various courts including High courts in the country, Andhra Pradesh High Court judge Justice V V Rao had said once .
Ironically there is a 10 year long wait list in the courts of Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh who have the largest number of pending cases
