Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has taken his sweet revenge on his detractors in cabinet who dragged him to street on Bangaru Thalli scheme. Though he conceded the demand of his critics for more debate on the ‘Bangaru Thalli’ scheme he saw to it that the two Ministers, Botcha Satyanarayana and Panchayat Raj Minister K. Jana Reddy, did not find place in the group of ministers (GoM) constituted on their demand for the purpose..
Both the ministers were most vocal in their criticism of the unilateral announcement of the scheme by the Chief Minister and the mode of disbursement of funds under the scheme to girl child and also ensured that proposed ‘AP Bangaru Thalli Girl Child Promotion & Empowerment Act, 2013’ Bill would not be introduced in the ongoing budget session.
Kiran decided to quell their revolt by smoothly setting up a Group of Ministers , subcommittee to review the scheme, but kept the two senior ministers out of it.Only his Yes men are in the committee including V. Sunitha Laxma Reddy, J. Geetha Reddy, D. K. Aruna, G. Aruna Kumari, Anam Ramararayana Reddy, P. Satyanarayana, P. Balaraju, E. Pratap Reddy and Kondru Murali.
No doubt the Bangaru thalli scheme, dubbed by his critics as old wine in new bottle,a replica of ' Lakpathi ' scheme of YSR , is all set to be his Waterloo.
