Didi Mamata Banerjee is once again back with her off the cuff belligerent remarks on her critics.
Just like Andhra’s Kiran Kumar Reddy West Bengal Chief Minister is intolerant of criticism. Commenting on protests against Park Street rape which has rocked civil society in Kolkatta Mamta has said that guest debaters on local television news channels critical of her government action say anything for money and also involved in pornography.
Tearing into critical Kolkatta Print and Television media the chief minister said incidents of rape are being discussed on TV by people who claim to be social workers but are actually only running after of money and are even involved in publishing pornography.
Her statement has also come a day before some sections of civil society are to march on Kolkata's streets to protest a spate of rapes and murders in the state recently, general law and order breakdown and insecurity of women. She had last year got an artist and professor jailed for a face book caricature .
Among those expected to take part in the procession are actor Soumitra Chatterjee, filmmaker Mrinal Sen, author-poet Shanko Ghosh and novelist Mahasweta Devi.
