The unprecedented natural disaster in Uttarakhand was more of a rude wakeup call to this world on what happens when nature unleashes its fury. Thousands are dead and missing though official figures always claim low. But then the question still remains, was this massacre more manmade and less due to nature?

What else can one expect when the nature is raped by mining mafia, real estate crooks that construct 5-storey buildings, hotels and guest houses on river bed and cutting down thousands of hectares of forests and building scores of dams indiscriminately in an ecologically sensitive zone disregarding warnings given by Environmentalists?

Will India learn the lesson because the same continues to happen in Himalayan regions like Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim with scant regard for ecology or do we just wait for Breaking News in future? It is about time our leaders and the system open their eyes and see the impending doomsday.
