Jallikattu Returns As Tamil Nadu Governor Approves Ordinance: 10 Updates

The Chief Minister Paneer o. Selvam is now headed to Alanganallur in Madurai to inaugurate  the Jallikattu game tomorrow.  The bulls will be entering the field after 3years. The Supreme court banned the Jallikattu game in 2014.

Thousands of people who have been protesting at the Marina beach celebrated the victory but did not call off their protest as they wanted the official ban to be lifted and PETA to be banned. Mr. Selvam has passed orders to all his cabinet colleagues to inaugurate the Jalli Kattu game in their own districts.

Mr Panneerselvam said the assent of President Pranab Mukherjee to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 by Tamil Nadu was received last night. "The assent for the ordinance (amending the PCA Act) has been obtained from Govenor also," he said, adding, "our dream to conduct Jallikattu this year has come true." He also said that the ordinance will be introduced and be passed in the Tamilnadu Assembly sessions which begin on 28th of January.
