When it comes to the allocation of seats, Women were neglected. Though all the parties have promised that women would be taken into importance while issuing tickets, the reality was on the otherside. Congress had field in 10 women,While Akalidal had given tickets to 5 women. Overall 30 percent of seats must be given to the women. But it was only 9 percent of women got the tickets. Congress implemented One family-One ticket policy due to which Amarinder's wife had to be ruled out and Pratap singh Bajwa's wife Charanjeeth Kaur could not make the cut. In Punjab's history only 5 percent of women were elected to the law making house. At present the number of women in the assembly is 14 while the number in 2007 was exactly half i.e 7.
