Political analysts and international experts on foreign affairs watching the current developments are left wondering whether USA and China are fighting India's terror war. It is known that India for long has been fighting hard to get JUD chief Maulana Masood Azhar designated as international terrorist and ban him by the United Nations.
Though all the countries are supporting, China, which has vested interests in Pakistan blocked the ban not once but on numerous occasions. India blasted China many times for being selective on fight against terror which China denied it vehemently.
Now USA in a significant development moved UN or designating Pathankot attack mastermind Masood Azhar as a global terrorist and this came as a surprise since India moved UN weeks back only to see its bid blocked by China.
Now USA's bid too was blocked by China which oppsed the the ban against the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief. USA supported by UK and France moved a proposal at the UN's Sanctions Committee 1267 in the second-half of last month to proscribe Azhar.
The proposal was finalised in cosultations between Washington and New Delhi. But a source revealed "However, China opposed the US move by putting a hold on the proposal," and added the Chinese action came just before the expiry of the 10-day deadline for any proposal to be adopted or blocked or to be put on hold.
The "hold" remains for six months and can be further extended by three months. During this period, it can be anytime converted into a "block", thereby, ending the life of the proposal.Masood Azhar was involved in Pathankot airbase attack and many more deadly attacks in India.
