In its report the committee asked the district collector to declare Rohith and his family members as belonging to the members as belonging Odde (Vaddera) commu nity (BC-A) and annul the certificates that say they belong to the SC community .

Collector Kantilal Dande after issuing  a final show-cause notice to Rohith's mother Radhika, brother Raja Chaitanya Kumar and sister Neelima soon after receiving the DLSC report said “DLSC has conclusively established that Rohith and his family be long to the Vaddera (BC-A) community , and not SC as declared in the past. Hence, all certificates granting them SC status will be cancelled,“

Family members got 15 daysto file the responses. DLSC came to the following conclusion after the statements of all the family members of Rohit Vemula and also that of the officials. “DLSC has conclusi vely established that Rohith and his family be long to the Vaddera (BC-A) community , and not SC as declared in the past. Hence, all certificates granting them SC status will be cancelled,“

This comes as a shock as earlier Dande in front of the National Commission for SCs stated that Rohit belonged to the SC community. Guntur collector in his report stated that all certificates possessed by Radhika, Raja and Neelima were fraudu lently procured and hence were liable for cancel lation.
