The term of six members of Rajya Sabha is to be expired by today. New members are getting elected by the MLAs in Tamilnadu Assembly. There are 7 contenders in the arena. 4 from ruling ADMK, one to its ally CPI (D.Raja), one from DMK (Kanimozhi) and last one from DMDK (Elangovan).
For getting an election as MP to Upper House one should require 34 votes (MLAs). As per the present position in TN Assembly, there is no problem for 4 nominees of ruling ADMK and also for D. Raja to win. ADMK and its left allies have 170 seats which will manageable for the victory of all 5 members. The real fight is between DMK and DMDK. Who will win the sixth seat? Will Kanomozhi re-elect again with the support of Congress? Can Vijayakanth open his account in Rajyasabha? DMK and its allies have 32 members in the assembly. DMK has short of two from the required number for the election of Kanimozhi. Everyone eagerly waiting what’s the trick Jayalalitha will play for the defeat of Kanimozhi.
Recently, there are no cordial relations between Vijayakanth and Jayalalitha. Captain said that DMK is better than ADMK in governance. All these developments create curiosity on this election.
