Proving all pre poll and exit poll surveys wrong Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackery showed once again that Shiv Sena is the Tiger in Mumbai. As the counting for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is nearing completion, it is coming out that Shiv Sena is leading in around 92 seats while BJP is confined to just 52 seats.
Congress, NCP and MNS are leading in 18, 4 and 10 seats respectively while others are leading in 7 seats. The results of 10 civic bodies, including cash-rich Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), and 25 zilla parishads and 283 panchayat samitis across Maharashtra will change the political equations in Maharashtra and it may have bearing in the relations between BJP and Shiv Sena.
Nearly 56% people exercised their franchise to vote in the elections. Mumbai civic body recorded 55% turnout. Retaining BMC is vital for Shiv Sena as it has been in power for mre than two decades.
While Shiv Sena is showing its power in Mumbai, BJP is holding in Nashik. In the end Shiv Sena despite all its powerful showing may still need some help to get majority in BMC.
