Many are wondering whether muslim reservations is still a mirage. It is known that except for BJP, all political parties are trying to lure muslims by promising 12% reservations in Government jobs and education very well knowing that it is against the constitution of India.
Many times Supreme Court gave shock to various state governments when they tried to accord reservations to muslims. Now Telangana CM KCR is trying his best to fulfill his poll promise of 12% reservations to muslims. KCR and his cabinet which met couple of weeks back passed resolution supporting reservations to muslims.
Despite all this it is comingout that muslim reservations is still a mirage. KCR asked the BC commission to tour more districts and get more representaions from the people before submitting the final report on muslim reservations.
Sources say this is an attempt to seek more time before introducing bill in the assembly. This also brings to halt the government's efforts to introduce the bill in the coming budget session.
Government already prepared a draft bill before BC commission's report and planned to introduce in the winter session. But BC commission conducted only five hearings and collected almost 50,000 representations in favour of providing 12 per cent reservations.
Already G.Sudheer Committee appointed by the government prepared a report on the issue along with the recommendations. Inside talk is this report can be included in BC commission report. KCR is trying his best to make the legislation to withstand legal scrutiny.
One of the BC Commission members shared “We are not in hurry now as the government has indicated to us to take up more hearings on the issue. We will plan our visits to the various districts once we meet the CM,”
