Ruling TRS party and Telangana CM KCR has been maintaining cordial relations with Asaduddin Owaisi and MIM party though they won the last assembly elections with comfortable majority. KCR decided to have good relation with Owaisi with the eye on muslim votes and this made even MIM happy as they always look for friendly allies in power.
TRS and MIM had post poll alliance for the muncipal council in 2014 and they decided to share the posts of chairman and vice-chairman for 2.5 years each. Under these circumstances MIM gave shock to TRS when MIM councillors revolted and much to the disbelief of the ruling TRS supported the Congress-TDP combine which helped Congress party to win the Tandur muncipality chair person seat.
MIM is supposed to take over the chairman post after TRS chairperson Vijayalaxmi and the MIM vice-chairperson completed 2.5 years in the post. Hoever MIM councillors revolted and supported Congress for the chairperson's post and this happened in the presence of Patnam Mahender Reddy, the Transport Minister.
He was most embarrassed to see Sunitha of Congress party winning the chairperson's post and MIM the vice chairman post. While Congress won 8 seats and TDP, BJP won two seats each. TRS and MIM won 10 seats.
