Chennai sources have stated that with the Tamilnadu Film Producers’ Council (TNFPC) elections just under a month away, the scene seems to have heated up already. Given the recent acrimony between TNFPC and the Nadigar Sangam’s general secretary actor Vishal, one that even went to court, those in the industry do expect some sparks to fly in the lead up to, and the day of the elections itself.

However, TNFPC president Kalaipuli S. Thanu’s move raising slogans in front of Nadigar Sangam’s office on Monday, to protest against its general secretary actor Vishal for his unsavoury comments in a magazine some time ago, caught many by surprise.

Thanu had said that actor Vishal has sullied the legacy of Tamil Film Producers’ Council, which has been led by great producers such as A.V. Meiyappa Chettiar, T.R. Sundaram, Nagi Reddy, Chinnappa Devar. He said that we only eat ‘bonda and bhajji’...we condemn this speech".

Meanwhile when referring to Vishal’s success as an actor, he asked, “How can Vishal improve the Producers’ Council when he cannot even make successful movies and bail out his producers.” Vishal had said "The judge who is in charge of the elections has requested us not make to personal attacks on anyone until the elections. These are all baseless allegations. Of course, if we win the elections, we will look at what transpired in the last two years and do a course correction".
