Pakistan's credentials in the fight against terror are well known. The USA and other world nations may not talk in open naming Pakistan as a terror sponsor but in private they express serious concerns of Pakistan breeding terrorists in its territory.

The USA for long had a bad experience in dealing with Pakistan during its fight against terror while smoking out Osama Bin Laden and also in fighting against Taliban. It implemented carrot and stick approach but even that yielded minimal results with Pakistan not getting scared of using terrorism against India.

But now with Donald Trump becoming president of USA, Pakistan may not have that luxury. It is coming out that a bill to name 'untrustworthy ally' Pakistan state sponsor of terrorism introduced in US Congress.

The strongly worded bill asked Congress to declare Pakistan a state sponsor of terrorism. Congressman Ted Poe, who is Chair of the House Subcommittee on Terrorism said "Not only is Pakistan an untrustworthy ally, Islamabad has also aided and abetted enemies of the United States for years,"

While introducing the bill, the Pakistan State Sponsor of Terrorism Act of 2015, in Congress, Poe said "From harboring Osama bin Laden to its cozy relationship with the Haqqani network, there is more than enough evidence to determine whose side Pakistan is on in the War on Terror. And it's not America's. It is time we stop paying Pakistan for its betrayal and designate it for what it is: a State Sponsor of Terrorism,"

The bill requires US President Trump to issue the report with in 90 days and has to answer whether Pakistan provided support for international terrorism. 30 days after that, the Secretary of State is required to submit a follow-up report, which says that Pakistan is a state sponsor of terrorism or a detailed justification as to why it does not meet the legal criteria for such a designation.
