Shocking demise of Allagadda strong man Bhuma Nagi Reddy due to cardiac arrest left a huge vacuum in AP and especially Rayalaseema politics. Even before the final rituals of the departed soul, fight started in poltiical circles to own Bhuma's legacy.
Generally in the by elections, there is a tradition of leaving the seat uncontested to a family member of the deceased. Bhuma technically won over YSRCP ticket and so he belongs to YSRCP headed by Jagan Mohan Reddy though he switched sides and joined Chandra Babu's ruling TDP.
Jagan's YSRCP may try to own the seat by fielding the candidate. However TDP may try to influence one of the Nagi Reddy's children to enter politics and contest on its ticket and convince opposition not to contest the elections.
TDP earlier didnot contest the by polls after the death of Sobha Nagi Reddy's death in a road accident in 2014.Her daughter Akhilapriya won the seat in the byelections and became Allagadda MLA on YSRCP ticket. It has to be seen whether any of Bhuma's children will join politics.
YSRCP leader said “It is too early to discuss the issue. We will take a call when needed,“. TDP says if none from Bhuma family enter politics,then they may field Shilpa Mohan Reddy in the elections. He earlier lost the elections to Nagi Reddy with a slender margin.
