According to police sources, the motive behind the attack was to humiliate and demoralize the author for his writings against Hindu gods. The teams continue their search for others accused in the case.

Davangere Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled told that the police had intensified the search operations based on the information provided by the two arrested persons. He expressed the confidence that the others would be arrested soon. Mr. Yogesh Master, author of the controversial Kannada novel Dundhi, was attacked when he was having tea at a hotel after participating in a programme organized in the memory of journalist P. Lankesh.
