Speculation is increasing whether PM Modi will receive Railway ZOne shock. It is known that TDP-BJP combine headed by Chandra Babu and Modi came to power promising special status and also separate railway zone to Visakhapatnam.
However after coming to power PM Modi went back on his promises citing various technical reasons. This attracted the fury of people. It is known that separate railway zone to Visakhapatnam has been the long cherished dream of people of Andhra Pradesh.
Now Konathala Ramakrishna, former minister in United Andhra Pradesh filed a PIL against Union Government for going back on its promise. Hyderabad High Court admitted the PIL and sent notices to the Centre, Ministry of Railways and the AP government asking them to explain their stand on establishing the railway zone in Vizag.
He in his PIL asked court to declare the action of the Union of India in not establishing a new railway zone in Visakhapatnam as illegal.
In his PIL he submitted that the people were anxiously waiting for the new railway zones as it would bring economic development. Petitioner's counsel said Union Railway Ministry, had failed to comply with the mandate contained in the 13th Schedule of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, to examine establishment of a new railway zone in the successor state of Andhra Pradesh.
