Telangana government is all set to give a business of 1100 Crore to Andhra Pradesh despite the bad blood between them. The state government in Telangana is purchasing over 21 lakh of the total 42 lakh sheep to be distributed to beneficiaries this year from Andhra Pradesh.
Sheep from AP are the obvious choice because AP has a population of 1.35 crore sheep and the animals will easily acclimatize to the climate in Telangana. Moreover, the meat-category sheep, such as Nellore and Deccani breeds wanted by Telangana, is available in AP.
The government wants procurement of sheep to commence from June 20. Karnataka would get 760 crore business followed by 200-odd crore business to Maharashtra through the purchase of over 14 lakh and 4 lakh sheep respectively.
