Sources have stated that Gorakhpur Bharatiya Janatha Party MLA Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal had refused to apologize for getting an argument and shouting at a top woman police officer. The Circle Officer Charu Nigam was at the receiving end of BJP Leader's anger after she had led a Police team to evict some protesters in the area of Kareemnagar, which is Yogi Adityanath's home constituency.
It was stated that a video of the incident, which had taken place on May 7 shows the BJP lawmaker shouting repeatedly at the woman IPS Police Officer. Aggarwal Das told “Why should I apologize? I was talking to her senior when the woman officer interfered. Police lathi charged people, old, pregnant women were thrashed by the police in the name of controlling crowd".
Meanwhile amid the exchange of words, Nigam took out a handkerchief and
wiped her tears, visuals showed. Nigam said “The MLA misbehaved with me and
refused to acknowledge in full public view that he is speaking to a lady Police
Officer".
The Police claimed that the MLA was angry because she had removed some people protesting against the liquor shop, whom he had told to stay out till he arrived. However the MLA accused the police officer of high-handedness and rejected her accusations as baseless. The woman police officer has been quite active in the newly formed anti Romeo squad and was nicknamed by the social media as 'Lady Singam'.
