Chennai sources have stated that fifty days after his 'voluntary' surrender in court and insistence to be sent to jail, MDMK leader Vaiko on Tuesday had approached a sessions court here for release on bail and on April 3, Vaiko appeared before the 14th metropolitan magistrate here to put pressure on police and courts to start trial in a sedition case that has been pending against him since 2009.

It was stated that cases could be taken up for trial, only after magistrate courts send the bundles to the competent session’s court. The process is called committal proceedings. Previously on April 3, Vaiko appeared before the 14th metropolitan magistrate pointing out that even committal proceedings had not been completed in his case. He filed a surrender memo and refused to file any bail application.

After finding no other way out, the magistrate then remanded Vaiko in judicial custody. Vaiko has been in jail since then, and has refused to apply for release on bail and further the case pertains to a function where he released his book "Nan Kutram Sattugiren" (I am Accusing...) at Rani Seethai Hall here in 2009.

Currently the Thousand Lights police have registered a sedition case for a speech Vaiko had delivered on the occasion. Wait and watch what happens next.
