New Delhi sources have stated that strong showers lashed the capital and parts of NCR after overcast skies greeted people making their way to work in the morning. The heavens soon opened up near the afternoon with thundershowers reported from Delhi and the National Capital Region as traffic slowed down on the streets due to water accumulation on the roads.



Meteorological department said "Monsoons are inching closer towards the capital and are likely to strike in the next 24 to 48 hours. Uttar Pradesh has not received enough rainfall in the last two days and once it reaches UP, Delhi can see monsoon soon after that. North India is likely to see monsoon in the next 3 to 4 days including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttrakhand and Jammu and Kashmir".

According to sources it was stated that humidity remained high throughout the day, oscillating between 65% to 100% with the maximum temperature on Wednesday which was recorded at two notches below normal. Delhi's maximum temperature was 35 degrees celsius on Wednesday, while the minimum was recorded at 28 degrees celsius.
