Chennai sources have stated that two men have died allegedly after consuming liquor mixed with chemicals in Dharampuri district in Tamilnadu, 300 km away from Chennai. Two others, who became unconscious after drinking the liquor, are being treated in a hospital. 



According to sources it was stated that the men, all friends, work for the Jindal Steel factory, where they consumed whisky together, investigators said. They suspect the young men had added some chemicals or spirit to enhance the intoxication. One of the victims, police said, is a Chemistry graduate.

Meanwhile a senior officer has denied this to be a case of illicit liquor tragedy. A senior official stated that "They are making investigations and hopes that the post-mortem would be able to identify what went wrong. We don't think it's a case of illicit liquor tragedy". Currently in Tamilnadu at many ways areas people are fighting to ban liquor shops and mainly women are fighting for justice to eradicate liquor in the state.
