Sources from New Delhi have stated that the monsoon is yet to arrive in the capital but several spells of good rain have helped make this month the wettest June in Delhi in the past 14 years. It was stated that the normal date of the southwest monsoon's arrival in the capital is June 29. The met office said it's not expected to hit the city until July 2.

But the delay has hardly made a difference and with the city recording 191.9mm of rain in June is nearly 2.5 times the normal rainfall for the month (82.2mm). Meanwhile the Meteorological records reveal this was the wettest June in Delhi since 2003. The 10 year IMD records show rain during June this year was more than the previous highest June 2007, which had recorded 150.9mm.

According to IMD records it was stated that Delhi had 13 rainy days this month, which again is the highest in since at least 2011. Moreover it was added that the southwest monsoon has been delayed having reached only parts of Bihar and Rajasthan. However, the monsoon line is expected to move in the next 48 hours.
