1.  Tomato at Rs 70, chilli Rs 90 per kg in Hyderabad as veggie prices skyrocket :  The new Goods and Services Tax (GST) might have spared most essential commodities. But, there seems to be no respite in sight for Hyderabadis from the spiralling vegetable prices. Among those that have become dearer are tomatoes and chillies that have touched `70 and `90 per kg respectively, in various parts of Hyderabad.
2.  Akbar attack case: Political trigger rebounds :  Contrary to the narrative of Hyderabad police and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) since the murderous attack on party legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi, the Nampally criminal court in its judgment concluded the prosecution failed to prove that political rivalry or the MLA's role in recovery of government land were triggers for the attack.
3.  Government forms panel to speed up MMTS doubling work :  About 3.5 kilometres of railway track will be doubled as part of the second phase of the Multi-Model Transport System(MMTS).
4.  Dawn of confusion with rollout of 4-tier tax slabs :  While the industry has been awaiting the concept of `One Nation, One Tax' for over a decade now, the four-tier tax slabs proposed by the GST council, wherein goods will fall in the tax brackets of 5%, 12%, 18% or 28%, has been a dampener and source of much confusion for many of the small players.
5.  Room to expand, but state stares at Rs 19,200cr tax burden on pet projects :   The implementation of GST is set to open up new markets for `Made in Telangana' products and services and pave the way for a unified market, On the flip side the state government is staring at an additional `19,200 crore tax burden on its pet projects, which include Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, various irrigation and road projects, as well as the double-bedroom housing scheme.
6.  KCR plays tough, asks Etela to skip GST fest in Delhi :  High drama erupted at Telangana Rashtra Samiti, a day before state finance minister Etela Rajender was to attend the GST launch when chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asked him to cancel his trip to Delhi on Thursday.
7.  Textile, beedi industry must be exempted from GST: Congress :  Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday demanded that the Centre exempt textiles industry from the GST.
8.  Now, 'weekly dry day' every Friday to curb malaria spread :  'Weekly Dry Day (Friday)', an initiative by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to prevent dengue, malaria and other vector-borne diseases, was held across city schools on Friday. 
9.  It's path-breaking reform: K Kavitha :  Welcoming the GST, Nizamabad MP K Kavitha described the new tax system as a 'path breaking reform'. 
10.  Hyderabad sailing event to start on July 3 at Hussain Sagar :  The Hussain Sagarlake will beckon all water babies next week. The Hyderabad Sailing Week, a popular sailing championship where the performance of competitors count for selection for Asiad and Olympic teams, would be held in the city from July 3 to 8.

1.  GST blues: Footwear shops down shutters :  Footwear stores here downed the shutters on Friday in protest against the GST regime coming into effect from July 1.
2.  Jagan will build world-class Capital on coming to power, says YSRC leader :  Addressing the party’s district plenary here, Mr. Venkatarami Reddy said party president and Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had approved the choice of the Capital after the bill was tabled in the Assembly.
3.  Arrest those responsible for desecration of Ambedkar statue :  Activists of the Mala Mahasabha staged a demonstration in front of the statue of Dalit icon Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the Trunk Road here on Friday demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the desecration of the Ambedkar statue at Pelluru, near here, earlier this month.
4.  Release district-level health bulletins: CM :  Taking strong objection to the “lethargic” attitude of various government departments in extending timely treatment to people who fell ill due to malaria in the tribal areas, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered that monthly health bulletins be released in all the districts hereafter.
5.  Invest in State, CM tells investors :  Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu invited the who’s who of Indian textile industry to invest in the State by showcasing its advantage of having a large pool of skilled human resources.
6.  Naval Community Day organised :  Naval Community Day was organised by families of the Defence Civilian Employees at Meghadripeta Housing Colony on Friday.
7.  No confidence in SIT, says YSRC : Expressing lack of confidence in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and citing its narrow scope to go only into tampering of records relating to government lands, the Opposition YSR Congress has decided to explore legal options.
8.  YSRC denied AU venue for plenary :  The requisition of the YSR Congress to allot the AU convocation hall for its district plenary on July 2 has been turned down, according to its district president Gudivada Amarnath.
9.  No rush at jewellery shops, electronic goods sales up :  There was not much rush in jewellery showrooms. With rumours floating that there will be heavy taxes on goods from July 1, many people thronged shops to purchase electrical and electronic appliances.
10.  State ready to work with pvt. hospitals :  The government is ready to work with private hospitals to implement the STEMI India model to reduce the burden of acute heart attacks in peripheral areas that do not have catheterisation laboratories to perform an angiogram, Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas said.
