Chennai sources have stated that the statue of yesteryear's actor Shivaji Ganesan , which is to be removed as per a Madras High Court order from the traffic island near the DGP's office on Chennai's Kamarajar road which was found causing obstruction, may well be shifted out again.
It was stated that the state government, in an undertaking to the high court, offered to remove the statue from the traffic island and install it at the actor's memorial that is getting ready near the Andhra Mahila Sabha Hospital in Adyar.
Currently it was stated that the Nadigarthila gam Shivaji Social Welfare
Association, which was in the forefront of agitations to demand a memorial for
the thespian and succeeded in getting the state government's nod for it, has
approached the Tamilnadu government with a request not to install the actor's
statue at the Shivaji Memorial. It wants the statue to be installed prominently
on the Marina beach road itself, along with those of Mahatma Gandhi and K
Kamaraj.
