Village panchayat elections followed by other local bodies turned to be burdensome to the party. Party honorary President Vijayamma has finished her tour in various districts of Telangana just before EC announcement for local bodies to alert the cadre. She targeted to win for 80% village panchayats in the state.

Before that party did some exercise by announcing co-coordinators alias conveners in most of the segments in the state. Group fighting’s started soon after this announcement in the state in particular Telangana region. In addition to that YSRCP high command assigned the whole responsibility of winning of Village Panchayats on shoulders of the conveners. If they can’t succeed in their responsibility party would replace them with suitable candidate. Party also told them not to expect any financial assistance for the local bodies. This forces huge pressure mentally and financially to conveners. After getting victory 15 MLA segments out of 18 it contested in 2012 by-elections, party leaders made their statements confidently that YSRCP should win around 200 MLA seats and 30 MP seats at any time in the state. After completion of the Nomination process, reports came from various districts reveal that YSRCP fails to compete with other parties in Telangana. Less than 40% nominations filed by it’s supporters in this region. Highest number of nominations filed by YSRCP nominees in Khammam district where as in North Telangana it’s less than 30% of nominations filed. Party position is very much strong in rest of Telangana in the state. Over 80% nominations filed in Guntur and Prakasam districts. It’s very pitiable position for the party before 2014 general elections.

As per political analysts there are number of reasons for the downfall of it’s graph. Corruption charges opposite Jagan, Release of Jagan is doubtful, Group fightings in the party, encouraging of defections into the party, rumors on shifting of Jagan to Delhi in ED case, no concrete party structure from top to bottom and lack of proper political guidance to YSRCP leaders to counter TDP and Congress. Informally party leaders agreed their weak position in Telangana region. Party High command is concentrating on Seemandhra.
