As per latest report it was stated that woman triggered a political controversy at the Centre by claiming to be the alleged biological daughter of late Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi and the 'secret granddaughter' of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It was stated that the woman, Priya Singh Paul, had claimed that she was adopted at the age of 6, in 1974 and that the reason termed for her adoption was that as her biological father was a noted figure in politics, the child's existence had to be kept secret for a few years.
Meanwhile she further said that she started searching for her roots following the death of her adoptive mother. Furthermore she claimed to have filed a petition in court earlier this year to establish her lineage and access papers of her adoption.
Sources have added that neither the Congress party nor the Gandhi family
has yet responded to Ms Paul's claims. Sanjay Gandhi was the younger son of
Indira Gandhi, and he was legally married to Union Minister Maneka
Gandhi.
