Ananthapur, considered as the stronghold of TDP right from its inception is not working these days according to the game plan of TDP boss Naidu. The aggressive inroads made by Jagan’s party have dented the vote bank of TDP to a significant extent in his district.

This is evident not only from the unanimous sarpanch seats secured by different party back candidates but is also reportedly evident from the time by polls were held last June. Sources say that apart from Naidu, the district has a sentimental attachment towards Nandamuri family as NTR won from Hindupur seat consecutively for Assembly.

Reports suggest that though Naidu’s padayathra was able to stem the migration of cadres, otherwise the infighting between Nandamuri and Nara clan is reportedly having its impact in this direct and TDP cadre are of the view that unless Balayya takes up the party responsibility in the district, it is as good as TDP handing over the district on a platter to YSRCP.
