The first phase of Panchayath polls concluded yesterday and the results are out. These results have reportedly given a shocker to some of our over confident politicians in the state especially in the Congress party and cutting across party lines. Despite best efforts, some upset victories have been registered.

The news that D.K. Aruna and Manda Jagannatham’s candidates have lost the polls respectively in Gadwal and Nagarkurnool segments came as a big blow to the pride of the party. To add to the woes, incidentally both of them lost their supporters to YSRCP candidates.

On the other hand, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy who had won with a record margin during last year’s by polls in Nellore couldn’t ensure the victory of his candidate against Congress. Minister Raghuveera Reddy backed candidates lost to TDP in Ananthapur while TDP MLA Seethakka’s candidate lost to TRS in Warangal.
