With Tirupati Balaji temple attracting lakhs of visitors in hordes, Andhra Pradesh has become the top tourist destination in the country recording 206.8 million domestic tourists in 2012.Though comparison is wrong between a historical site and religious phenomena, the AP tourism is cashing on it for its self glorification.
The temple shrine has been getting over 3 crore pilgrims annually, that is an average of one lakh visitors daily. Almost 30 to 40,000 are climbing the hill shrine daily while rest come by private and public vehicles for darshan of the Lord where the temple is kept open for nearly 20 hours a day and about 2000 devotees are given darshan per 15 minutes.
